Advancing a Coordinated Green Economy Workforce Strategy
Maurice + Fischer partnered with a cross-sector coalition in Chicago to design and implement a coordinated workforce development strategy for a major urban region’s emerging green economy. The initiative brings together nonprofit organizations, industry leaders, training providers, and community-based partners to align workforce pipelines with the growing demand for green building and climate-related jobs.
Our work focused on:
Ecosystem Mapping: Conducting a comprehensive gap analysis of training programs, contractor capacity, and workforce readiness to identify opportunities for alignment with employer needs.
Funding Strategy: Facilitating collaborative discussions to coordinate investments, leverage existing funding streams, and surface shared priorities for long-term sustainability.
Technical Assistance: Supporting community-based and minority-led organizations to expand their capacity in delivering climate economy workforce and contracting opportunities.
Strategic Facilitation: Guiding multi-stakeholder meetings and workstreams to build consensus, set priorities, and position the coalition for future federal, state, and philanthropic funding.
Through this engagement, Maurice + Fischer helped lay the groundwork for an inclusive and resilient climate economy, creating equitable access to high-quality green jobs while strengthening the contractor ecosystem.
