Our Work in Practice
Maurice+Fischer works with organizations that need strategic capacity they don’t have in-house — the legal intelligence, policy expertise, or government relationships to move a complex initiative forward. Below is a cross-section of that work.
Nonprofit Client — Coalition Strategy & Government Engagement
Maurice+Fischer works with nonprofit and advocacy organizations at both the project and systems level.
For a Chicago-based development organization, we established credible partnerships within local governments across several African countries for a youth entrepreneurship initiative — convening stakeholders at the government and academic levels, facilitating key relationships, and developing a sustainability framework to support long-term program growth.
As Lead Consultant for the Chicago Workforce Innovation Collaborative (CWIC), we currently facilitate a six-organization coalition aligning workforce development, policy advocacy, and clean energy economy initiatives across Chicago. Our work includes developing strategic funding proposals, coordinating policy frameworks, and engaging philanthropic partners and policy leaders to build a unified, multi-year strategy that supports Chicago’s transition to a green economy, with a specific focus on expanding access and opportunity for minority-led organizations and workers from underrepresented communities.
Academic Institution — Global Alumni Engagement
A U.S. academic institution needed a global outreach strategy for a graduate program. We designed an engagement model centered on alumni — building philanthropic culture, connecting current students to a global network, and establishing partnerships with academic institutions in underrepresented regions.
Manufacturing Client — African Market Entry
A leading manufacturer of products for electric utility, telecommunications, and civil markets needed to define its opportunity across the African continent. Maurice+Fischer developed a comprehensive market entry strategy — mapping business opportunities, identifying sourcing options, and building a relationship management framework spanning the full continent.
IT Client — Cross-Border Banking Solution
A technology company contracting with multilateral organizations and governments needed a viable banking solution for their Africa-targeted product. We identified and vetted potential providers, assessed financial fit, and managed the relationship process through to a workable solution — identifying a potential $50M opportunity in the process.
Corporate Client — Emerging Market Advocacy
A global advisory firm sought policy and advocacy support for business proposals targeting emerging markets. We articulated policy positions aligned with the target market’s needs and engaged key stakeholders to position our client as the strongest candidate for the opportunity.
Government & Intergovernmental — Youth Violence Policy Exchange
A senior East African government delegation, in partnership with an international multilateral organization, conducted a study tour on youth violence policy in North America. Maurice+Fischer designed and facilitated a week-long intergovernmental program in Chicago — convening senior policy experts across security, legal, and social services to deliver a holistic, comparative policy framework tailored to conditions in the delegation’s home country.
We work with private companies, financial institutions, government agencies, think tanks, nonprofits, and academic institutions. Every engagement is built around the client’s specific goals — and measured by whether it moves them forward.
